(13-1, 10 KOs) won the NABO
middleweight title with a dominant
sixth round TKO over Keith
Sims
(25-13-1, 14 KOs) on Wednesday night
at the Westchester County Center in
White Plains, NY.
Gilbert
rocked
Sims in the sixth and after a
series of unanswered punches,
referee Ken Ezzo pulled the plug at
1:57.
Light heavyweight Elvir Muriqi
improved to 33-3 with 20 KOs after a
lopsided points win over Ted Muller
(19-8-2, 19 KOs). Scores were 80-72,
79-73, 79-73.
USBA jr middleweight champion
Terrance Cauthen (32-3, 8 KOs)
scored a tenth round TKO over Dante
Craig (17-5-1, 13 KOs) in a battle
of former U.S. Olympians. The fight
was stopped 11 seconds into round
ten when Craig failed to answer back
from a Cauthen flurry.
Unbeaten heavyweight Kevin Johnson
11-0-1, 5 KOs) lumbered to a
six-round unanimous decision over
Demetrice King (9-15). Scores were
60-54, 60-54, 59-55.
Unbeaten jr feather Roberto Benitez
(5-0) pounded out a four round
unanimous decision over tough guy
Vineash Rungea (1-4-1). Benitez
dropped Rungea in round one and cut
him in round three on the way to a
40-35, 40-35, 39-37 win.
Bantamweight Krabir Suleymanov (2-0)
outworked Omar Carroll (0-1-1) to
win by scores of 40-36 on all cards.
Middleweight Joshua Snyder (2-1, 1
KO) defeated Zex Pejcinivic (2-3, 1
KO) by a 39-37 count across the
board.
"This is the first show that we put
on in the Westcheter County Center
in a long time," said promoter Joe
DeGuardia of Star Boxing after the
fight. "We're very pleased with
outcome, however it was a tough
night with the rain. The Star boxers
pulled through." |
