bout between welterweights Delvin Rodriguez (20-2-1, 12 KOs) and Keenan
Collins (12-2-1, 8 KOs) at the Utopia Paradise Theater in the Bronx
ended before it really got started as what was ruled as an accidental
head clash in round two left Collins unable to continue with a cut over
the left eye. A no-contest was announced after the completion of round
two, although video replays showed that the cut may have been caused by
a right hand by Rodriguez. The New York State Athletic Commission may
review the result.
Undefeated
cruiserweight Alfredo Escalera Jr (15-0, 11 KOs), son of legendary
super featherweight champion Alfredo "Salsero" Escalera, was dropped in
round one, but came back to outpoint Harvie Jolley (6-5-1, 3 KOs) over
eight rounds by scores of 77-74, 76-75, 76-75.
Undefeated
jr. welterweight prospect "The New" Ray Robinson (4-0, 1 KO) scored a
second round stoppage of Willie Diamond (7-10-1, 3 KOs). Diamond was
down twice.
In
female mini-flyweight action, Eileen Olszewski (4-0) took a majority
decision over Suzannah Warner (7-5, 2 KOs) by scores of 40-36, 39-37,
38-38.
