STAR CONGRATULATES SIMMS
Star Boxing congratulates Tarvis Simms for his spirited effort last night against top rated super middleweight contender Allan Green on Showtime's Shobox: The Next Generation.
Simms, who had to travel into Green's homestate of Oklahoma, was a late replacement for Victor Oganov, who pulled out of the fight late last week. As if taking the fight in Green's hometstate on just five days notice wasn't tough enough, Simms also was moving up in weight from middle to super middle.
The previously undefeated Simms, now 25-1-1, 11KO gave Green (29-1, 20KO) all he could handle for the full ten round fight. In the end Simms lost a unanimous decision, scores were 97-93, 98-92, 99-91, but gained a lot of respect in the process, as most boxing experts believed he wouldn't even be able to make it to the final bell against the hard punching Green.
