On Saturday October 4th Andrey Tsurkan (26- 3, 17KO) will go to battle against undefeated prospect Alfredo Angulo (13-0, 10KO). The Tsurkan vs. Angulo bout is scheduled for 10 rounds in the jr. middleweight division and will be part of that evenings HBO Boxing After Dark's special edition triple header.

WBA #7 heavyweight Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson (20-0-1, 7KO) fresh off his 5th round destruction of former heavyweight champion of the world Bruce Seldon (38-7, 34KO) was left speechless, a very uncommon occurrence for the colorful Johnson, upon hearing that fellow top 10 heavyweight contender David Haye (21- 1, 20KO) was still looking for an opponent for his heavyweight debut on November 15th.

Joe DeGuardia CEO of Star Boxing and Art Pelullo's Banner Promotions have signed U.S. Olympic team member and reigning World Amateur Champion Demetrius Andrade to an exclusive multi year fight contract. The 20- year-old Andrade from Providence, RI is the boxer widely regarded as the number one pro prospect from this year's Olympic Team. Andrade was chosen by many to be team USA's best shot at winning a gold medal going into the games but questionable scoring, and a highly controversial decision in the quarterfinals at the games ended the well decorated amateur's dreams of capturing gold. Even though Andrade didn't get the decision, anyone who saw him fight could see that he has all the goods to become a professional world champion. NBC's Teddy Atlas, who was providing television commentary for the games, repeatedly spoke very highly of the young Andrade, saying over and over again that his style will fit even better in the pros.

After the weigh-in Joe DeGuardia CEO of Star Boxing had a special surprise presentation for "Mighty" Mike and the "Kingpin". Both fighters will be celebrating their 29th birthday's this weekend, Mike on Saturday and Kevin on Sunday so DeGuardia presented the two Star Boxing fighters with a birthday cake in their honor.

All fighters weighed in today for Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing show this Friday night at Bally's Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.
