All of us at Star are very proud of Kevin and wish him continued success as he looks to follow in his father (1975), as well as my own (1988) footsteps, by winning a NY Golden Gloves. Let's go Kev!

SERRANO GETS READY FOR BIG 2010 STARTING ON ESPN

On January 29th, Star Boxing's rising welterweight prospect, Raymond "Tito" Serrano (11-0, 6KO) will put his unbeaten record on the line when he takes on Ronnie "The Natural" Warrior Jr. (13-2-1, 4KO) at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, NV. Serrano-Warrior, scheduled for eight rounds in the welterweight division, will be the co-feature bout of the evening on ESPN's "Friday Night Fights". The card, billed as Reno Extreme Fights II, and promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Let's Get It On Promotions, is headlined by Curtis "Showtime" Stevens (21-2, 15KO) taking on Reno's favorite son, Jesse Brinkley (34-5, 22) in an Official IBF Eliminator for the number two ranking in the super middleweight division.

BOXING PROMOTERS ASSOCIATION CONTINUES TO MOVE FORWARD AFTER THIRD MEETING IN LAS VEGAS

The Boxing Promoters Association (BPA) held its third meeting on January 11th in Las Vegas, with a renewed sense of optimism for boxing in 2010. In a full day of meetings at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, the President, Joe DeGuardia, and the various Committees gave reports and moved forward with the planned agenda. The growing group of over 30 promoters heard committee reports outlining collaborative efforts for television and Internet distribution, venue agreements, legislative activities, and a host of other issues the group will tackle in the new year.

STEVENS HAS SIGHTS ON SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT CROWN

Those were the harsh words of wisdom Curtis "Showtime" Stevens had for Jesse Brinkley when asked about their upcoming showdown on Friday January 29th at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, NV. The bout, scheduled for 12 rounds, is IBF Super Middleweight Eliminator for the #2 ranking (Stevens is currently rated #10, while Brinkley is rated #6) and will be shown live as the main event on that evening's ESPN "Friday Night Fights" telecast.

ANDRADE SCORES 1ST ROUND KNOCKOUT ON ESPN

Going into Friday's matchup against Bernardo Guereca on ESPN's "Friday Night Fights", Demetrius Andrade promised to put on a spectacular performance, and that's exactly what he did. Andrade, who improved his record to 9-0, 7KO landed a picture perfect counter right hook midway through the very first round that sent Guereca to the canvas hard.
